Strange Country

Sometimes you need to have a glass of wine, cuppa whatever and listen to a good old weird story. Musical score Resting Place by A Cast of Thousands.

Let’s face it, it just ain’t easy being a woman. Wait, who wrote that? A man or a woman? What is the narrative of our fragile little lives in the books we grew up reading? if a woman dared to write the story of a strong woman who lived a life without getting married in the end, would it ever make it to print in the 1800’s? If a tree falls in the woods does it make a sound? This week on Strange Country, Kelly and Beth explore the stories of women in the publishing world. From Louisa May Alcott of Little Women fame to Ursula Nordstrom who helped to publish every amazing kids book that dared to show the true and messy side of childhood. Enjoy listening to Kelly meander through her thoughts and Beth try to get to the damn point. Always Readers, thanks for listening through all of our womanly distractions and occasional blips of intelligent thought. And thanks to the world of podcasting in which The Big White Lie hasn’t found a way to edit our stories.
